Stories, tips, and highlights from adventures around the world and new destinations.

  • Tokyo, 2024

A few of my favorite photos from a recent trip to Tokyo, Japan for an Automattic team meetup.

Sharing meals builds trust, jumpstarts relationships and drives momentum—essential for distributed teams. These shared experiences foster unity and enrich collaboration, much like WordCamps do for the WordPress community.

On that note, I’ll be in Torino, Italy, next month for WordCamp Europe. Drop me a DM on X, or reply, if you’d like to meet.

  • Automattic Design Meetup, 2024

Once a year, the Automattic design team gathers in person to connect face-to-face, learn, and try new things. This year designers gathered in Lake Como, Italy, from more than 20 different countries.

I had the pleasure of running a Patterns Atelier with Beatriz Fialho, sharing knowledge on designing beautiful WordPress patterns. A solid trip all around.

  • WordCamp Asia, 2024

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the vibrant atmosphere of Taipei for WordCamp Asia 2024, a melting pot of engaging community, delightful dumplings, and enlightening speakers. WordCamp Asia is not just a conference; it’s a celebration of the WordPress community’s diversity, resilience, and creativity—and I’m here for it.

  • Playa del Carmen, 2023

A few favorite shots from my recent Automattic meetup in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I explored, ate great food, but most importantly, worked with teams to plan, prioritize, and execute on what’s next for WordPress. A solid time all around.

We’re looking for senior hands-on contributors with a deep enthusiasm for their craft. If that’s you, work with us.

  • WordCamp US 2024 in Portland, Oregon

WordCamp US is an annual large-scale event that gathers enthusiasts, developers, designers, and users from around the world, to talk, learn, and share WordPress experiences.

I’ve never been to Portland, but I’m looking forward to it!

  • WordCamp Europe, 2019

WordCamp Europe was as just as incredible as everyone said it would be. The city of Berlin was welcoming and beautiful, the sessions were great, and there was a lot of tasty food. But best of all, the vibrant WordPress community we all know and love was there in full-force. It’s so neat how WordPress brings folks from all across the world together for a common good: democratizing publishing; that’s WordPress’s greatest strength.

  • WordCamp Atlanta, 2018

Believe it or not, this year was my first WordCamp Atlanta experience ever. While I have lived in Georgia for a number of years, I’ve never been able to make it.

Let me tell you, I sure am glad I made it this year. In short, WordCamp Atlanta was great. It was a weekend full of thoughtful talks, bright folks from all over the world, awesome parties, and a lot of what makes the WordPress community so vibrant — diversity.

  • WordCamp US, 2017

Following a similar format to my Pressnomics 5 takeaways post, here are a few thoughts and takeaways from my experience at WordCamp US 2017. I did try to keep this “bit-size”, but the sessions were so good this year!

  • My experience at PressNomics

PressNomics 5 was an incredible experience – one that I’ll remember for sure. I put faces to names of folks I’ve chatted with for months – even years, and made strategic (and more importantly) personal connections with the people who basically power the WordPress business economy.

I had the idea to sum up my thoughts, ideas, and takeaways from my experience at PressNomics 5 into bite-size chunks.
